A criminal charge has been dropped against a Saskatoon RCMP officer accused of assaulting an 18-year-old woman in Stanley Mission while the officer was off duty.
Const. Elizabeth Cook was charged with one count of assault on April 1 in connection with what investigators called a “physical altercation” outside a home in the northern Saskatchewan community.
According to a news release, police received a report of an injured woman who was brought to the Stanley Mission Health Clinic that morning.
The courts do not provide reasons for why charges are withdrawn. Cook was suspended with pay shortly after she was charged, and her status will remain that way until an internal code of conduct investigation is complete, RCMP media spokesperson Dan Climenhaga confirmed.
