A third charge has been laid against a Saskatoon pediatric respirologist already facing charges of child luring and soliciting a minor for sex.

Dr. Ramkumar Natarajan, 48, appeared in Saskatoon provincial court on Thursday afternoon on a new charge of soliciting a minor for sex.

Court documents show the alleged communication occurred on Jan. 19 and 20.  The original charges are connected with incidents alleged to have occurred between Feb. 21 and March. 21. All three charges arose out of the same investigation, court heard.

Natarajan was first arrested on March 22 and released on $500 bail. On Thursday, he was re-released on stricter conditions that require him to consent to searches of four different devices by providing access to police.

His previous release conditions include having no contact with people under the age of 18 except for immediate family members, not using the internet or mobile phones except for work purposes and keeping the provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons up to date on his situation.

He next court appearance is scheduled for April 9.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority confirmed Natarajan has been removed from clinical duties. All of the patients under his care have been transferred to other specialists, including one brought in from Calgary.
