A 24-year-old man accused of killing a 52-year-old man whose body was found near Duck Lake has been released from custody on $10,000 cash bail.
A Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench judge on Thursday released Bobby Kenneth Gamble, who is charged with second-degree murder in the death of John Brown, who was from Christopher Lake.
Gamble was ordered to abide by numerous conditions, including attending a residential treatment program immediately upon his release from custody. He also has a curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. for at least three months, and his curfew time may be amended after that, the judge ruled.
The reasons for Gamble’s release and details of the case that were discussed at the hearing are subject to a publication ban. Several rows of family and community members attended the hearing in support of Gamble.
According to police, Brown’s body was found on a grid road just north of Duck Lake on Feb. 3. Gamble, who is from the nearby Beardy’s and Okemasis First Nation, was charged later that day with second-degree murder.
He is scheduled to make his next court appearance in April.
