A man arrested in connection with the Project Forseti drug investigation in Saskatoon has been sentenced for his role as a marijuana courier.

Benjamin Miller Stewart-Rogers pleaded guilty in May to possession of more than three kilograms of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. This month, he was sentenced to nine months in jail followed by 12 months on probation after a judge accepted a joint submission from the Crown and defence.

Stewart-Rogers was arrested on July 3, 2014 in British Columbia with 27 pounds of marijuana in his car, federal Crown prosecutor Janelle Khan confirmed. He was hired to transport the drugs as part of a drug dealing ring led by Ryan Hillman, a member of the Fallen Saints motorcycle club.

Khan told court the sentence was in the lower range for this scale of trafficking, taking into account Stewart-Roger’s young age and guilty plea.

Hillman is serving three and a half years for conspiracy to traffic marijuana. His associate, William Dean Sokalofsky, was sentenced to a three-year penitentiary term for possessing marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, conspiracy to traffic and possession of proceeds of crime. Christopher Lester, the man who conspired with Hillman and Sokalofsky to traffic marijuana from B.C. to Saskatoon, was sentenced to two and a half years on similar charges.

Project Forseti was a lengthy drug and gun investigation targeting the Hells Angels and Fallen Saints motorcycle clubs, ending in raids in January 2015.
