A Saskatoon judge has denied bail to a man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Carol King, near Herschel, Sask.
Joseph “David” Caissie was charged this summer with first-degree murder in the death of King on Aug. 6, 2011. He’s also charged with offering an indignity to human remains.
On Oct. 21, Justice Shawn Smith ruled that Caissie did not meet the criteria for bail and ordered him to remain in custody while his case proceeds through court, according to Crown prosecutor Gary Parker.
Caissie’s next appearance is scheduled for Nov. 2 in Saskatoon provincial court.
King’s body was discovered in a secluded rural area north of Herschel on Aug. 27, 2011 — 22 days after King was last seen.
RCMP have not indicated what led to Caissie’s arrest five years after King disappeared.
